OakTree Navigator Report Builder

At the core of all OakTree Navigator (ON) modules is the ON Report Builder. The ON Report Builder uses a Windows Explorer style GUI that allows a Unicenter® administrator to quickly and efficiently create custom reports from Unicenter® databases. Without knowledge of SQL, users can use expandable drop-down lists to view every field from their Unicenter® NSM, Unicenter® ServicePlus Service Desk, Unicenter® Asset Management, or Unicenter® Software Delivery database modules.

Report Builder reports are created by simply selecting data fields and applying filters by creating simple Boolean expressions in the OakTree Navigator Report Area (Criteria Builder). OakTree Navigator (ON) handles the action of creating the links, SQL queries, and knowing what databases contain the information requested. ON also increases the speed of collecting report data by using a unique direct connect method to the SQL databases.

OakTree Navigator Report Generator

The Report Generator is a run-time version of the ON Report Builder that allows IT administrators to enable non-technical users the option of running custom reports. The Report Generator has the ability to be run as a local application to enable single click execution of customized reports, and includes the same abilities to manipulate and export the results of any report.

OakTree Navigator Web Report Generator

The Web Report Generator is a run-time version of the ON Report Builder that allows IT administrators to enable non-technical users the option of running custom reports via a web browser.

Database Architecture

Navigator 2007 has incorporated the four separate modules of the previous versions of ON into one interface which allows you to access any of the four. During the installation of the Setup program, Setup creates a database on the server that you have chosen to be the Navigator database server. The database does not require much hard drive space. It creates 31 tables, including system tables, under a database called OakTreeNav. Below is a capture of its tables.

You are no longer required to save reports to files (yet the option still exists). You can save the reports directly to the Navigator 2007 database. Folders and Reports are stored in the Reports and "rfldrs" tables.

The Registered Unicenter® Application servers are also stored within the database. You can register as many servers as you need, as long as they are valid Navigator 2007 servers. For example, Navigator 2007 does not support connections to Unicenter® AM Enterprise Servers, ON 2007 connects directly to the AM Domain Servers.
